That is that!

Has anyone been watching the Mountain West dominate in bowl games. It started with Wyoming beating Fresno State. This surprising win lead to some more dominant wins. BYU and Utah destroyed their Pac-10 opponents, including BYU beating the second place finisher in the Pac-10, Oregon State. Tonight's game doesn't involve any MWC team, but if it did I would pick 'em.

Hawaii Bowl; Nevada vs. Southern Methodists: On paper this one looks ugly. Nevada is the first DIV. I team to have three 1,000 yard rushers. Nevada quarterback Colin Kaepernick is a playmaker, he rushed for 1,160 yards this season, while passing for 1,875. He threw 19 touchdown passes and only five interceptions. Tailback Vai Taua, and utility back Luke Lippincott have both ran for over 1,000 yards as well. Nevada will be going up against a Southern Methodist defense that gave up 28 points per game and over 400 yards. Sounds like a perfect match-up for the Wolf-pack. But that is the great thing about bowl games, you have some mitigating factors. When this season started Mustang coach June Jones dedicated a run to the Hawaii bowl to his good friend, Frank Gansz. At SMU, Jones implemented his high powered spread offense that contributed to his success in Hawaii. The greatest thing for the Mustang offense is that Nevada's pass defense is one step above the worst. They are the second worst pass defense in Div-I. Also the SMU defense will get a little bit of a break because it looks like Nevada will be without 2 of their 3 1,000 yard rushers. Colin Kaepernick is the only one of the three that will be playing. I am taking SMU in the emotional win,John agrees but Jess, Lys, and Jason all think, Nevada will win.

Please enjoy your Christmas. Live like no one is watching and open all the presents you can, no matter who they are addressed to.
