Big East Showdown, anybody care?
This will be a battle of the Big East unbeatens. Cincinnati (which is impossible for me to spell right) has the nations third rated scoring offense. Tony Pike, the Bearcats quarterback, is a efficient and has been unshakable in the pocket. He has thrown 13 touchdowns and only 3 interceptions. I guess it helps when you get to throw to Rudy Gilyard, the nation's coolest interview. The thing that helps this high-flying offense continue to have success, is a moderate running game. South Florida has been an emerging program for the last few years. Mid season breakdowns and a late season loss in 2007, when the Bulls reached number two in the AP poll, have ruined this team's chances at a BCS bowl. The Bulls coach, Jim Leavitt, is a fiery young guy who may have a job for life if he keeps this up. South Florida is in the top 5 in scoring defense and freshman quarterback B.J. Daniels has picked up right where Heisman hopeful Matt Groethe left off, making plays with both his legs and his arm. I have been wavering back and forth between these two teams. I like both of their style and we all know I love an underdog. (Mostly because in college football I am a total bandwagon fan.) But I think Cincinnati, will take it tonight. But it will be a great game because this is the first time that both these teams have met as ranked opponents. John and Jess are going with me on this Bearcat bandwagon, Lys is taking Florida pride to a whole new level and picking the Bulls.
Unfortunately the Boise State Broncos won last night, but barely. This was their last tough test of the season so we will probably see them in the top 5. But the fist BCS rankings come out on Sunday and if Cincinnati and USC win this weekend don't be surprised if they are both in front of the Bois in blue. (See what I did there, clever huh!) This is the first of 10 games we are picking this weekend, and I will have the rest of them up tomorrow. Live like no one is watching an fight for what you want!
PS: Unbeatens another word that isn't!
